Kinematic and Dynamic Analysis

Solid Performance Program (SPP)

Software and Engineering Associates

Solid Performance Program (SPP) predicts solid rocket motor performanceby calculating deviations from ideal performance by using a series ofindependent efficiency models. The analysis consists of two parts:nozzle performance and motor performance. The nozzle analysis includesmodels for describing the 2-D transonic, and supersonic steady stateflow field within a given nozzle contour. Two phase flow effects areincluded. One-dimensional models are used to analyze the nozzle wallboundary layer and finite rate gas phase chemistry. The motor performance analysis consists of three separate grain designmodules and an internal ballistics module. Either an axisymmetrical ora 2-D or 3-D grain design analysis can be selected by the user. Theone-dimensional motor ballistics module can then be exercised by usingoutput tables from the grain design analysis. The SPP also contains the axial-mode Standard Stability Prediction (SSP)computer program as a module. A motor stability prediction can beobtained using outputs from the grain design module to define motorsurface and port areas. An export license is required outside of the USA.
